Cops: woman arrested for killing her girlfriend

Suffolk County Police have arrested a woman from Riverhead for stabbing her girlfriend to death at their home.

Riverhead Town Police responded to 1142A East Main St. just before midnight last night for a disturbance call, Suffolk Police said in a press release. When the police arrived, there was no one at the house and there was evidence of a struggle, police said. Response officers located a woman who had been stabbed at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead shortly after.

The victim, Marta Esmerelda Ramirez-Carbajal, 20, has been pronounced dead, according to a press release from Suffolk Police. The victim’s girlfriend, Karen Abigail Delacruz-Reyes, 21, who was also in hospital, has been charged with first degree manslaughter.

Delacruz-Reyes will be brought to justice today in Riverhead court, police said.
